It's Time to Overcome What is Blocking You from Getting Married

Make this the year you overcome what's blocking you from getting married.  Since all the promises of God are in him are yes and amen (2 Cor 1:20) and God said it's not good for man to be alone (Gen 2:18); you can be certain that God is in agreement with you in receiving your mate.  You may be thinking 'but I have been believing for a long time and it hasn't happened yet, so what do you mean make this the year? If I could, I would have done it by now'.

And this is the purpose for this discussion, to help you see that it could have happened if it wasn't for something blocking it from coming to pass or due to some lack of understanding about how the process works.  In this article I hope to provide a little insight into the connection between you, and your spiritual resources so you can get your prayers manifested.

To begin, you must be established in the following four foundational truths. Once you understand the foundational principles for getting anything you want from God, it will make it easier to receive.  The four foundational truths you must have settled in your heart include:

1) Knowing God has already provided for your needs; 2) Knowing you have already been given what you asked for; you just need to appropriate it; 3) Knowing that if you don't have the physical manifestation of your answer to prayer then there is a reason for it.  And once you determine the reason and resolve it, it should come to pass. 4) Knowing you have to do.

Today, as New Testament believers we have the power of God residing in us to overcome any challenging situation we face.  And if we need to hear from God, we have the Spirit of God residing in us to speak to us personally.  This is great news because anytime you need the power of God to change a situation or you need God to speak to you; you don't have to go to another.  All you have to do is look to Christ within.  Having Christ in you is like having your own personal generator.

If you've ever been in a storm and your house receives electricity via a power company, you are at the mercy of this company.  If the storm has caused your lights to go out, you’ll have to wait until they send someone out to fix it.  But if you have your own generator, you aren't dependent on some outside company.  Anytime you need power all you have to do is turn on your generator and you'll have lights and power to cook your food. This is what it's like as a New Testament believer.  God has placed in you His anointing (1Jn 2:27), His power (Act 1:8) and His faith (Rom 12:3) to get the things you need.

The first step in utilizing the power of God in your spirit is to make sure the power is on and operating at its optimal level.  In Eph 2:20, the Bible says, 'he is able to do exceedingly, abundantly all we ask or think according to the power that works on us'.

So the degree of power you have working in you is what God uses to change things in your life.  If you have little power working you may get little or no results.  If you have great power working you may have greater results.  It's all based on you.  You can conduct a self test to determine how much power or anointing you have working in you by how much faith is coming out of you.

If you've ever had to believe God for anything, you can probably tell when you are in faith and when you are not.  For this reason, don't pray or make any kind of confession unless you know you are in faith.  Trying to get your prayers answered when you are in supposition will only cause frustration and delay.  If you check your heart and you are in worry, doubt, and anxiousness over a situation, deal with those things before you attempt to 1)pray; 2)act in faith; or 3)make any kind of confession.

The second step is to ask God what is blocking your prayer from being answered.  Many have the mindset that once they ask God for their mate that their work is finished.  But it has just begun.  You won't get much accomplished if you ask for your mate then go about living your life expecting God to work apart from you.  God's heart is to walk with you daily.

If you are walking in step with Him and if something is blocking your answer to prayer, He will inform you.  He will often tell you what it is and give instruction on what to do about it.  And last, another important factor in overcoming the blockages in getting married this year is timing.  If you are exhibiting strong faith, walking close to God, and if something is blocking your answer; you can get in there to change it.  Don't allow the factor of time to be a factor.

If God answers immediately (Matt 7:7), which I believe he does, then simply waiting around for a prayer to be manifested isn't wise.  Now there are some answers that may take a little bit of time to manifest and this is where wisdom and the force of patience are needed.  However, my goal is to get you to renew your thinking about simply ‘waiting around’ for something to happen.

So unless God specifically tells you He has you in a waiting pattern; pursue and expect the answer to your prayer to come to pass in a reasonable amount of time.  A reasonable amount of time is when you have come through the test and trials that the enemy has thrown against you to get you to quit.  It is a point that you have reached in your spirit man that you know without a doubt God answered your prayer and you have a witness in your sprit that you should have it by now.  It is also when the Holy Spirit in your spirit is confirming the same.

In summary, because I believe marriage is the Will of God for your life and you are simply appropriating something He has already provided, I believe if you make up mind to work with God to receive your mate, you can see progress in this area.  Therefore as you endeavor to 1) maintain a strong bible faith; 2) stay close to God to hear Him when He speaks; and 3) remove the hindrances that may be blocking the answer from manifesting; I believe you can see significant changes this New Year. Since each person is different, seek God about your particular situation.  But generally speaking, applying these principles should help you get on the path of receiving the mate God has for you. †
