The Lord said . . .
It is Your Responsibility
by Victoria Thornton I had the bad habit of laying on my bed staring at the ceiling saying, "C'mon, Lord what's going on with my mate?" Since my mate hadn't manifested yet, I thought surely God knew the reason. As I prayed in tongues that morning hoping God would reveal to me what I was missing, I laid quiet. While laying down praying and in a sleep like state it was like someone was talking to me from my mid-section. I could also see in red typed letters a few sentences. I could hear the person say it and I saw these words written, "it is my responsibility.” I could quietly hear and see God telling me, “It was my responsibility.”
When I opened my eyes and realized God had answered me I was happy then sat out to meditate on this fresh Rhema. I understood what God was telling me because I acted like and assumed even though God did His part and answered my prayer that it was all on God to get my mate to me. I believed that whatever reason we weren't together it was all on God to fix without much imput from me. So when He told me, "it was my responsibility" I instantly knew what He was saying. I always thought it was God's responsibility to take the lead but God was correcting my thinking by telling me it was mine.
It was like I was being told since it was my responsibility I needed to find the answers that prevented my faith from bringing it to pass. It wasn't on God’s shoulders, but mine. As far as God is concerned that prayer was answered. He provided the answer the moment I prayed. God's job was done and the rest was up to me.
For example, let's say your rich uncle gave you a house. It's in your name and you have sole responsibility for it. If the plumbing backs up or there is a crack in the foundation the upkeep of the house is solely in your hands, not the person who gifted it to you. If the house falls apart and because it was given to you, you own it -- you are responsible.
Or, if you are a parent of an underage child. If he or she acts up in school the teacher won't call your neighbor but will call you, because you are responsible. It is the same message God was trying to get across to me. If I wanted to see the manifestation of my mate, the responsibility of it fell at my feet and not His.
Here is another example. Remember the woman with the issue of blood? In Mark 5:25-30, it states . . .
- Mar 5:25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
- Mar 5:27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
- Mar 5:28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
- Mar 5:29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
- Mar 5:30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
Notice how after this woman heard of Jesus, she took matters into her own hands. First, she made a powerful faith statement. Second, she found where Jesus was located and made her way in the press behind him. Third, she touched his garment and last, she was made whole. She wanted to be healed and she made her way to where Jesus was that day. She didn't wait for Jesus to be in her part of town, walk down her street or even wait for him to cross her path. She went looking for Him and did what she needed to do to get her healing. God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
If you need the wisdom of God to show why your faith isn't working it's up to you to find out. If you know it's totally up to you to receive your mate, will you watch three hours of television or give that time to prayer? Will you forgo that time of fasting when you know it breaks yokes or eat everything at the dinner table? Basically, the choice is yours and you decide moment by moment how badly do you want it.
And here is another thought, that because it is your responsibility and not God's, nothing is going to change until you change it.
